It looks like Crocs isn't the only "ugly shoe" brand to get the high fashion treatment this season. In addition to the Christopher Kane and Crocs partnership, designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi of Preen unveiled their upcoming collaboration with Ugg on the runway during London Fashion Week. Since the show was geared towards spring 2017, there were no wooly boots — instead, the label showed super-high flatform sandals with oversized bows in black and white.

Thornton and Bregazzi noted their inspiration behind the design stemmed from the pastel goths of Tokyo, as well as Jeff Koons and his famous balloon animal artwork. It's a juxtaposition of "effortless and edgy, cute and tough," according to the designers in a press release.

"I know many people will be surprised by this collaboration," said Andrea O'Donnell, president of fashion lifestyle at Deckers Brands, which owns Ugg, in an official statement. (She's right.) "The product delivers a different fashion edge for us," she continued. "We are really excited by the results and think our customers will be too."

For the customers who are indeed excited for this collaboration, the sandal also comes in a manageable slide version, and Ugg retailers both online and worldwide will offer this capsule collection come February. Is this the continuation of Ugg's endeavors to upgrade itself from being considered, er, basic? (The shoe brand also appeared on the models at Thaddeus O'Neil's presentation during NYFW:M.) We'll have to wait until next year to find out.
